Hi,i play no.8 and i was wondering if you have any tips or practises i can try whilst picking the ball up from the scrum. i always seem to get caught by the scrum half or their 6 is straight on me. thanks.

Sounds like you might have a slow delivery from your hooker. Work with him and your half back. Work on a quick put in of the ball. No tap from the hooker just get the half back to put the ball into the tunnel on the hit with the hooker doing a quick hook. Make sure the channel between the props legs is wide and the locks know how to get the ball back quick.

With the quick shunt of your scrum and a quick put in and hook back you should get the ball real quick. Don't hesitate, pick the ball up and go.
