Question
I recently played a rugby match and absolutely saughtered this little scrum half! he was concussed and was taken off.I am a #8 so it wasnt really a nice thing to do. i was just wondering do you have any tips about how to tackle someone but make sure they remember it? i dont want to kill anyone just know how to make a crunching tackle.
p.s  I carry the ball alot and was hopping you could give me some tips on running like chabal or lomu. I know chabals a caveman but he can still break tackles when he needs to and id like to aswell.
Thanks in advance, Bob.

Answer
Hi Bob, I don't want to sound harsh but I don't think you did anything wrong, I think the halfback took on someone better then him. Remember this is Rugby not Ballet. I would target the halfback and try to take him or others out of the game as this would lessen their attack and the back up scrum half back would be weary of me.

As for a tackling tip so they can remember it? I think that halfback will remember it for a long time, and the next time you play him, he will think twice before tackling you.

How to run like Lomu or Chabal? run fast and be aggressive, hit the tacklers at full pace..remember to lower you centre of gravity before contact, especially head on tackles.

Hope that helps and welcome to the world of big hits....your email put a smile on my face and brought back some great memories.
