Rugby Boots

Question
Hi,I am a rugby player(I play prop) from Canada and it usually rains here so I use soft ground boots with big studs. But I am going on a tournament this summer and I'm noticing the grounds getting harder when I practice and will probaly be harder there. So what I was wondering was should keep the cleats I have(8 studs), get another cleat with big studs just less studs(6 studs), get a cleat with blade type studs, or get a firm ground cleat(like a soccer cleat(with a bunch of small plastic studs). Also would getting and frim ground cleat effect me in my scrummming?(by not having enough traction).
Answer
Hi Tyson,
If the ground is really hard go for a soccer boot with the molded studs but make sure they are as hard a plastic as you can get. I think blade cleats are illegal so you might want to check that. I like to always have 8 studs but that is more a mental thing.
If the ground is not so hard just get shorter studs for your boots and you can also get real short plastic "nub" studs that are like a soccer boot.
The aim is to keep the boot and change the studs - thats why they screw out. LOL
At the end of the day traction is your game. To long and hard a stud will make you slip if the ground is super hard. Go for as much traction as possible
