Fitness programme for a prop

Question
Hey,
I'm 22 years old from Ireland. I'm 6 foot tall and 19 stone. I have been playing rugby since I was 14 years old and I have played in the tighthead and loosehead positions for my career so far. I was 16 stone when our season finished in April so I am trying to reach that target in pre-season training again. However, I am finding it quite difficult and I have noticed a severe decrease in my mobility. The season starts again in a month or two. I was hoping that you could help me and give me advice in what running and weights programme I should follow. Thanks so much for your time.
Answer
Hi Larry. As my bio says I do not give fitness programs. I suggest getting to a quality gym and getting a trainer. Make sure to get a fat percentage done. If you are carrying too much dead weight (fat) loose it in a healthy way. You will speed up easy. Get the trainer to asses your current fitness and strength levels and then discuss real goals and mile stones.
You may want to join an athletic club for running technique issues and sprint training.
Be professional about it, shop for a trainer like an employer for an employee. Meet with a few trainers and ask hard questions about their qualifications and experience, client load, work with rugby player.
