hey josh, the start of next season is approaching for the club i play for, next season is under 17's.
I'm 6ft and I'm pretty light weighing just under 10 stone so i really need to bulk up.
i currently play winger for the club however occasionally play fullback as reserve however I'm also hoping to play for the college I'm going to in September but as a full time fullback. I'm quick ( 11.4 to run 100m) and i have no problem with catching highballs. As a winger i didnt have a lot of opportunity to kick however i will be the season coming to up my game. do you have any tips on being a fullback especially tackling and kicking... and also tips for kicking as a winger both attacking kicks and clearances.
and also iv been hoping to use protein shakes or similar to help gain weight as my metabolism doesn't seem to agree with me trying to put on weight through eating.. do you have any suggestions on that front as well. any ideas on how to bulk up.    thanks a lot, harry

This is tackling-
There is five types of tackling:

The side tackle
The rear Tackle
The passive front tackle
The active front Tackle
The smother tackle

The tackler should do all of the following

The side tackle- Imagine a target on the bottom of the ball carriers shorts.
Keep his head up of his chest
Brace his shoulders
Make initial contact with his shoulders on the ball carriers thigh
Wrap his arms around the carriers legs
Keep his head up and his eyes open behind the ball carriers backside
Drive with his legs, gripping with his arm and hands to bring the ball carrier to the ground

The rear tackle- Imagine a target on the bottom of the ball carriers shorts.

Keep his head up of his chest
Brace his shoulders
Make initial contact with his shoulders on the ball carriers thigh
Wrap his arms around the carriers legs
Drive with his legs, gripping with his arm and hands to bring the ball carrier to the ground
Land on top of tackled player

The passive front tackle-Imagine a target on the bottom of the ball carriers shorts.
Keep his head up of his chest
Brace his shoulders
Make initial contact with his shoulders on the ball carriers thigh
Wrap his arms around the carriers legs
Keep his head up and his eyes open to one side of his leg
Use momentum to take the carrier of your shoulder
Twist and land on the tackled player

The active front tackle-
Get his lead foot as close to the ball carrier as possible
Keep his eyes on the target
Keep his head to the side
Drive your hips to lower his Centre of gravity
Drive your shoulder in to the target area
Drive your legs,
Pick one of the runners legs up
And land on the tackled player.

The smother tackle-Get his lead foot as close to the ball carrier as possible
Keep his eyes on the target
Wrap his arms around the upper part of the body
Try to trap the ball and players arms so they cant off load
Land on tackled player

When kicking the ball the main priority is to get the ball out, it does not matter where it goes out, if it goes out 10 yards or 20 yards it does not matter because you have took the pressure of yourself. If you are out of your 22metere zone just grubber it along the ground if your uncertain to kick a high ball. Thanks
