Rugby, what position is right for me?

Question
Rugby is surprisingly big at my school and I was thinking of joining next year (junior year). I'm 17 and weigh about 160lbs. I'm 5'8" and have an upper body strength that is a bit less than average. My hand-eye coordination isn't as good "foot-eye coordination" but I'm only average fast. I'm usually not too great at catching people when my friends and I play Tag, which we do just for shits and giggles, though maybe that's cuz a good amount of those friends are in cross country running. Most of my strength is in my legs, though. I'm also apparently pretty good as passing rugby balls, which my friend who plays rugby told me once when we were just throwing it between us and another friend. What position do you think might work for me?
Answer
Hello Skyler, sorry for the time taken to get back to you.
The only time I get into suggesting positions is with a player I have worked with in person. I have trained with the player seen them play in person. There are many factors that I need to see in person to advise.
The key one I start with any time is to make sure the player really wants to play the position he is in. No point in working with a player who is a perfect shape and ability for prop if he doesn't want to play that position. I will work to convince a player of their potential or give them more confidence in their ability or I will move them into a different position.
Ultimately it come down to the player. If a player REALLY want to be in a position that will over come many short comings over a better player who's heart and head isn't in it.
So go with your gut and play the position that lights your fire, that will put you ahead of the other guy every time.
Also expect that as you learn the game it is ok to change positions. By the age of 22 you may go through 2 or 3 positions before settling in which is ok as your focus now is to learn the game, ball skills, tactics, strategy.
Good luck.
