Knee Injury
Question
Hi, I played drop in Hockey in a place in Pennsylvania, and toward the end the ice got pretty choppy. I did not notice anything until the next morning when my knee became very stiff and sore. It was difficult the first day, but began to feel better. However, since then when I do squats and plyometrics for to improve my game, these are now often coupled with soreness the night of and/or the day after. I have not noticed much when I am skating, but during a game last week I noticed some discomfort when I bent it more. This time frame will be 3 weeks this Sunday. Overall, this has not in any way affected my performance, it has only been a painful annoyance, however, I worry that it could be come a problem soon. Also, when I do sprints for dryland training, there is slight discomfort when pushing off with the foot on the side of the injured knee. Thanks in advance.
Answer
Hi Zak...
I am no doctor - but from experience it appears you may have aggravated some ligaments ... not enough to maybe tear - but they could be stretched...
You probably should go see a doctor to have it checked in case it is more severe. In the meantime - as hard as this may be for you to do - you may just have to take some time off and let it heal!!!
The BEST thing to do would be to seek the advice of a medical doctor!
Good luck!
