What do I need for Jr B or Major Midget?

Question
I am a 6'0 160 pound defenseman.  This past year was my first playing rep after playing recreational hockey and I was  the team's most improved player according to the coach and was 3rd on the team with points as a d man with 15 in 35 games.  I am wondering what skills and size of frame I need to preferably play Jr. B but major midget if it doesnt work out.  I currently do a camp 2 times a week on ice, do track at school, and go to the gym as many times as my schedule allows me to (2-3).  I plan on doing a prep camp 2-3 weeks before tryouts.  Is gaining 20 pounds possible and how do I go about it.

Many thanks,
Thomas

Answer
Hi Thomas...

Of course ANYTHING is possible for the most part.  However this question will depend alot on your "metabolism"  if you already eat big meals and seem to not put on much weight - 20 pounds may be quite a challenge.

There are many methods to put on weight - from using heavier weights in your weight lifting program - to eating bigger "more carb" meals to using supplements like weight gainers.

If you have a strength and conditioning coach at you school - it would be best to ask him.

If not contact a local Gym or workout center in your neighborhood and go for a visit.  Alot of times they will give you a first session consult for free.  Then you can decide if you want to continue...

Since there is no ONE answer - I could easily mislead you with some advice and it could actually be detrimental to your health.

Sorry i can't be of more help - but this is your health and that should be taken seriously with professional advice.

Hope this helps!

Thanks
