recreational skates?
Question

I hope you can answer a question about skates.
Up until a few years ago I played rec. hockey. When I turned fifty I 'retired' mostly worried about injuries.
I wore hockey skates of course and always had problems with the fit and comfort. I tried different soles, baking, laces, etc. They would hurt like hell but once you got into the game you didnt notice it. You know how it is. Several guys told me they felt the same.
I see that in the last couple years they have come out with something called a 'recreational skate'.
Here is a link:

Do you know anything about these?
I assume they are built for comfort, but would I still be able to get around in a game of shinny with my kids? Would I be able to do do mohawks, pivots, etc.or are are they too bulky?
If you dont know could you direct me to another expert?
I live in a rural area so I dont know if I could buy a pair, try them, then return them.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi Van!
My first impression on those skates is that they are made for "just skating around" - like at public skating or on ponds for leisure purposes only... I don't see them being able to hold up to the "impact skating" of hockey... Now someone with good skills and strong legs might overcome the limitations and still play decently - but I would think this skate will break down over time and probably hurt your feet more and may even open you up to injury due to not being designed for the labors of hockey skating!!
I would not buy them if it were me!
Hope this helps!
Good luck my friend!
