Answer
Micah,
Congratulations on getting those Vipor they are pretty nice skates. Normally if you wear a size 9.5 tennis shoe, you want to wear one full size smaller in hockey skates. So the 8.5 is just fine, even with the 1/2 inch space between your toes. That's really not a whole lot of room. If you said you had one inch space, then I would have some concerns. But you are fine.
I would recommend that you place Bag-balm on the blister and then place a bandage over it to protect the ointment. Then if you want to use your normal Vapors go ahead. The bandage will protect you in that area as you skate. With time you will wear down that area in the boot and or, grow a callous in that area. Never the less, use the bandage today when you state. Don't for get the bag-balm...very important.
Good Luck!
