Hockey!
Question
Can you please give me answer where and how in hockey equipment are used coins!
Answer
Wow, this is an interesting question. Back in the days before Velcro, hockey players used garter belts to hold up their socks. Yes I know, a manly sport with garter belts...LOL.
Well, back then they didn't make the product very well and as you know, those white plastic inserts would break off and I would see them littered all over the dressing room. So hockey players started using penny to replace those lost plastic inserts. Now, there was a new problem. Penny would be littered all over the dressing room floor and it was like walking in a mine field. It just took one penny on your skate blade and you were back to the skate sharpener.
So in the mid 80's a company manufactured a new product with Velcro that looked like a garter belt but without the metal and plastic stuff. Then in the 90's a company came out with special under pants that held a cup and Velcro built right into the pants. It's known as a Cup combo...of all things. You can still buy the old garter belt for about $4.00 to $5.00 in the pro shop. Or, you can shell out about $50.00 for a Cup Combo.
Hope this answered your question.
