Junior or College Try-outs
Question
Hey, I'm Byron i live in a small town in Hope B.C.,Canada and our town is a hockey town, thing is we're too small to have a rep. team. I just finished my last year on the midget C team and im looking into trying out for a higher more competitive game of hockey, like Junior B or A. I accel in the sport of hockey iam a team leader as well, but ive been playing house hockey all my life, but iam capable of playing rep. hockey but the next town that has a rep. team is Chilliwack and the only allow locals unless you know a coach or someone in rep. hockey. So do you think Junior or College teams accept "C" players to tryout? or should i just go play mens hockey in Hope.
Answer
Hi Byron...
Many Junior teams and college teams will hold "open" tryouts. While they typically have a list of scouted players they invite to their main camps - they usually will hold one or two "open" tryouts in hopes of finding that player (like you) that did not have opportunity to play on "big" clubs but has the skills and heart to compete at higher levels. Check with the Junior teams and or colleges you are interested in ... explain to them what you have just sent to me -- and ask about open tryout opportunities to SHOW YOUR STUFF!! If you REALLY want to do this, and regardless of what happens, you can ENJOY the process -- you are already a "winner"!!
Hope this helps!
GOOD LUCK BYRON!
