regarding skates
Question
hey,
thanks for your time,
was just wondering, ive been through quite a few skates and i find that i never get enough ankle support because it feels like the ankle cover isnt high enough. also, my feet kill in the middle bone of my feet area all the time. was wondering which brand or skate you would recomend?
Answer
Hi Ram
You will notice that the cheaper the pair of skates, the less ankle support they provide. I am not to sure why this is, but I was picking out a new pair of skates about a month ago and the salesmen also said this was true.
If you check the more expensive pairs of skates you will find that the ankle support area is very stiff. They are designed like this in order to maximize the amount of energy transfered from the legs to the skate, which means you should be able to skate a bit faster with the more expensive skates.
My last pair of skates were nikes and they were great, I could skate (and I did skate once) for 5 hours and my feet would not hurt. My newest pair is a pair of Eastons and they give me a bit of trouble, but I think this is common with new skates (you have to break them in, which takes a while)
It is hard to recommend a pair of skates because every foot is different, so it comes down to personal preference.
Your best bet is to go to the store and pick out a nice comfortable pair of skates, with some good ankle support. You could even try getting a used pair, because they would already be broken in!
