How to play the Line

Question
Hi,
I have a son who is very gifted in size and strength and plays Ironman positions on the Line.
He is just 11 years old and has totally control the line since he was 9 in Kids 13 and under. Last year he did not get much support on the line from his teammates and found himself Double and triple team plus being Facemask and clop-block several times preventing him from making alot of sacks. My son has been taught to play straight-up Football, but the refs do not call pentalites like they should. My question what can I teach him to allow hime to handle double team and prevent dirty Football being used on him. He really loves the game with a very deep passion ,but the coaches don't seem to know the in and outs to blocking and playing the Line. Any help would be very grateful. Thanks Brian

It sounds like you have a great son; playing football the fair way is the only way.
I'm sorry to hear that this is happening, its hard in youth football to get the right combination of coaching and support sometimes, after all the coaches most times are fathers just like you who just want to help.
First and foremost let your son know he is doing the right thing, he is playing the game as it should be played and he should have pride in knowing this, second he is getting double teamed because he is good so he can take pride in that also, he always needs to know he is doing good.
If he was my son I would start by approaching the coach, now as a coach and being around it allot I know no coach wants to be told what to do, so I find the best way to discuss it is away from the field and with no one else around, let the coach know that you just want a good playing environment for your son and see if that gets you anywhere.
As for your son, he needs to learn how to handle the other players, hold his place and do his job, if he is double teamed then that's 2 less players from the defense to tie up the play, so he is doing a good job if he can keep them tied up. Work on a balanced stance, work on reading the other players and what they are tiring to do, learn from past plays and don't let the other team do it again, all this will help and also make him a better player.
It is a hard thing when this happens and I hope you can get somewhere with the coach, keep your sons spirits up, he is doing the right thing and if he has the passion you say, he is a kid I would want on my high school team. Keep working towards the goal and be there for him, if he is good, people will notice soon and things will get better.
My favorite coach always said, 揅limbing to the top you have to see a lot of butts, but when you're finally on top they can all just kiss yours!?not a man of great words but he was a great coach LOL

Hope I helped
