Dear Coach Louis,
I don't condition as much as I should, but I've been working out a schedule work out by. Right now I lift weights throughout the week. Soon I will be doing more jump rope, and other agility drills since I have the equipment to do so. My main goals are to improve my explosion out of my stance, my foot speed and my 40 time, since colleges seem to look at that fairly closely. I've been getting letters from a bunch of private schools, and I just got my first one from a state school. Do you have any tips for conditioning and/or tips for how to attract college recruiters? I appreaciate the help
sincerely, Ryan
Answer
Dear Ryan,
I was reading some of my, old football, questions people asked me when I came upon yours. I think, I can give you a better answer than I did. Let me give it a shot.
The two best ways to get into football shape are by playing Basketball and handball.
Try playing basketball and handball. When you play basketball you do a lot of running back and forth on the basketball court. This helps you get in shape. You have to play a lot of defense and offense on a basketball court. The foot movement, used to play defense and offense on a basketball team, are the same foot work that a football player would use during a game.
When you play handball, you do a lot of running back and forth and side to side. These are the same movements used by a the defense and offense on the football field.
If you play these two games during the off season and (stay out of the sun) drink lots of water, get lots of rest, do not over do it, get your sleep, you will be ready for the season. You will be in football shape and your foot work will look great.
I hope this helps, if not please let me know.
Your friend, Coach Louis
