Getting involved with High School Football Coaching

Question
Thanks for the advise.  I guess I would have to say that I wouls use part of the offense and come up with some other offense scheme throughout the offense to compliment the passing part of the offense.  Do you have any good ideas on a passing offense that would go nice with this offense?

I am from North Central Pennsylvania and have lived in the community for 34 years.  My father was the High School Football coach for 19 years and retired from coaching in 1990. He gave many countless hours of his time for the High School program and had lots of success.  I have lived and breathed High School football and now I have the passion to follow in his foot steps.  He ran the vere/option offense and I know the ins and outs of this well.  He also ran a 4,5, and 6 defense and understand all of these defenses.  Do you think that you can run these types of offense now and be able to compete or should I look at some new offenses and try to come up to speed with them.  I am in the process of puting a resume togeather for the school district and want them to know all of the offense and defense that I will be running.  Please give your thoughts.

welcome to the coaching world. Yes, I think you can use the offense and defense your dad used. However, if I were you, I would learn more about the passing game. Most big changes, in the game of football, that have come about, are in the passing part of the game.

The offenses of today, are using more, 3 receivers, 4 receivers, and empty back fields sets than ever before. Your defense has to be ready for anything. They have to be ready to face a power running play one second and a wide open passing attacked the next.

You are in luck, there is a great book on passing, it is called

"Winning Football with the air Option Game"

The offense is easy to install and it works great. It can be used with, just about, any running game. I hope this will be of help to you, if not please let me know.
