Thanks for the question buddy! Well, I can relate because as a younger man, I was in the same position as you are. I played organized football from age 10 through high school. I always loved backyard / recess football as well, and was a great backyard QB. But when it came to organized football, i was always a lineman or linebacker. But as I got older, I became a tailback and linebacker. My sophomore year in high school, the coaches saw me messing around at practice and saw me throwing the ball, and said I should be the QB next year. And that was it. I played QB for my Jr and Sr years.
The best thing you can do to get started is to learn as much about football as you can. Now, this will be a little different than the game at recess. Have you played organized football yet? If not, that is your first step. Get on a team for next year. This winter, spend your time reading as much about football as you can. Basic offenses, basic defenses.. things like that. Dont worry too much about your physical abilities right now. REMEMBER this.... Being a good QB is 90% mental, and 10% physical. Look around the NFL. Who are the best QBs? They arent the most athletic QBs with the rocket arms and blazing speed.. They are the QBs who undertsnad the game best. The Qbs who can read the defenses the best. See where I am going with this? Learn the game, learn the position, and you will be fine. Also, please, dont learn football from video games. They are all very unrealistic, and the plays and defenses are all wrong. So if you play Madden or anything like that, make sure you learn to seperate video games from reality. Learn football the right way, through coaches and books, not through playstation.
