Female football
Question
Coach Louis,
I am a sophomore in high school and after doing cheer for two years I felt in love with football and wish to tryout this summer. The only thing is that I come from a Hispanic family that only like soccer therefore I have a lot of questions on the sport and the position that I would like to play and that is Center in offense, but what kind of exercise should I be doing to make my schools Varsity center and with your experience how should I show the guys that I am one of them even though I am a girl but still wants to win just like them?
Thank you
Answer
Dear Evelyn,
I think it is great that you have found a new love for football. I know how you feel, football has been a part of my life for over 30-years.
However, there are lots of ways to be a part of the game of football without becoming a football player. What about team manager? Film editor? Game stats? Team scout? Team event organizer? Booster club? Assistant coach? And when you have paid your dues head coach?
I am sorry to say that the game of football is not for young ladies. And if you play center you will never gain the respect of your team mates. The position of center is a very poor choice for a lady to play. You might want to read a little more about playing center for a football team. I think you will be happy you did.
If you want to learn more about becoming a football coach, please let me know. I would be happy to help you in anyway I can.
Your friend, Coach Louis
