NEED QB HELP
Question
Hi, this coming football season i will be playing qb for my sophmore year in high school. I havent played since 6th grade, and i can throw ok. Im asking for help on throwing farther, and throwing better spirals. i can throw a good 30 yd spiral pass usually, but for some reason i cant find a good grip that feels comfortable when i throw. Im following all the follow through instructions and im doing everything that should help me have a great throw. Do you know any tips that can help me throw farther, and throw an awesome spiral. and maybe if you know whats wrong with my grip and why it feels uncomfortable. and if theres a certain grip i should use.???? thanks. -brady.
Answer
Hi Brady,
It is great that you are going to be playing again. Throwing grip is really affected by the size of your hand and there is not much you can do about that, but your grip should be toward the point of the ball with your index finger near or on the point. Your last 3 fingers should be on the end of the laces. When you throw try to stand tall with your front shoulder to the target. Stay closed until your arm is traveling over the top then open up your hips and rotate. Push off your back foot for more velocity. Keep practicing proper technique and work with your coaches and you will improve. Takes alot of hard work.
Good luck.
