football helmet shields
Question
in alabama what is the darkest tint you can have for your football helmet shield
Answer
Chris
In Alabama or any other of the 49 states the rule is the same - NO Tint. The rule states there can be NO tinting no matter how little the percentage of tint.
The only visor that can be worn by a player to be considered legal equipment is a clear non tinted, non colored (no matter how slight)eye shield per NCAA Rule 1-4-5-s. For High School football, Under National Federation Rule 1-5-3-n the rule is the same as the NCAA's. The eyeshield must be a molded rigid material that is 100% translucent without any color or tinting.
I realize many players like to wear tinted visors and like the look of the tinting but they are prohibited by rule at the recommendation of the National Athletic Trainers Association and a doctor's note will not vitiate the rule.
Sorry to be the barer of such news but dark tinted visors or any tinted visor for that matter is not legal in Alabama or any other state.
