being recruited
Question
I started last year for my team at strong safety, i run a 4.6 and can squat 325 but i havent recieved any attention from coaches or anything. What should i do to get recruited?
Answer
Mitch, this kind of thing happens all the time. First thing that I would do is to ask your coaches if they can help you out. Next thing that you need to do, is start making highlight tapes or DVD's of your high school games. (Include copies of newspaper clippings, all league or all state honors, copies of your grade point and act or sat scores as well) Start contacting coaching staffs at schools that you are interested in. Tell them what position that you played in high school. Show them that you a enthusiastic, and that you will be the type of player that can help any team. Also be realistic about your skill level, and would schools that you think you can play at. Don't only contact large D-1 schools. Send your tapes and scores to D-2 and D-3 schools as well. There are also over 70 NAIA schools in America with football programs! If you want it bad enough and are willing to take the time to put your films together and contact enough coaches, there is a place for you to play somewhere. You just have to find it. GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL
