Question
My name is Isaac and i am in the 7th grade, almost 8th. I am 13 years old, 5'6", and 160 lbs. I realize i am overweight. I know that you specialize in offense, but i was hoping you would know something i could do anyway. This will be my first year playing football and i have my sights set on playing middle line backer. I am fairly strond and pretty tough. I have decent speed but i need a little more to play line backer. Do you know some kind of training routine i could do by myself or with my father, or even both to improve in these three categories? I pretty much just got interested in football last year. I know most of the rules and i am like a walking team roster right now so i am willing to do whatever it takes to become a good football player and maybe even get into the pros. I no it is not a good chance at this point but it has been done before so i believe i can do it to. I have been studying the position for a while so i know most of the fundementals. If you could just give me a routine to get stronger, faster, and tougher, i would really appreciate it.
Answer
Isaac I would suggest just trying to get into the best shape you can before the season gets here. Running, running and more running, is what you should be working on before the season gets here. Be in the best shape, you have ever been in. This will help you with your weight, and make you a faster a stronger player. Work on short sprints, this will help your quickness. Other than that just listen to your coaches and work hard in practice. GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL!!
