Trying out as a HS Freshman

Question
Is it important to try out as a freshman for the high school football team if one wants to play sophomore year and beyond? To ask it another way, is it more difficult to come in unknown as a sophomore trying out for the team, or does it not matter? The high school in question is very large and very competitive. Thanks!

  I would most defiantly encourage you to go out for the team this year.  You won't believe what you will learn in one years time.  Also when you are a sophomore with that extra year of experience, your will have all the confidence in the world.  Even if you don't get as much playing time as you would like this freshman year the experience is immeasurable.
