Being a better wide receiver
Question
Mr. Noel,
I am going to be a freshman in high school in 1 month. I have made the decision that I am going to play J.V. football. I have the basic fundamentals of being a wide receiver and many more. But what I would like to know is if you can give me any "advanced" tips to lead me to being an even better receiver. I would gladly appreciate it if you can get back to me.
With thanks,
Jeff Douglas
Answer
Jeff I can give you 3 general tips that will help you become a better receiver and give you a better chance to stand out with the coaches. First catch the ball! You need to become great at catching. I would recommend catching at least 100 balls every day. Two learn your routes. Learn them well, and become a good route runner. Excelerate out of your cuts, be fast. The 3rd piece of advice is become the best at stalk blocking on the team. Coaches are always wanting to see good blocking by their receivers. This just takes effort, but it will impress the coaches if your getting your block on ALL PLAYS RAN! GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL!
