Center to OT

Question
MY 12yo son has played in pee wee football since since he was 9yo.  Over those 4 seasons he played center most of the time.  He is now in the 7th grade and in his first year of school ball.  He is a large kid 5'5" and  173 pounds with long thick arms and legs. He is a good blocker but he is not a fast kid at all.  The coaches  put him as the Starting Left Tackle on the "A" team.  Which shocked me because he is not a real aggressive kid either.  Is speed and fast feet as important at the 7th grade level or do most coaches pick by size and ability to mold into a good OT?      Thanks

Answer
Angie they probable put im there because of his experience and technique.  Experience goes along way, most kids in the 7th grade have no tackle football experience, so they probable just see a coachable kid you understands the game, better than the other kids.  GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON COACH NOEL!
