Football training.
Question
Hello,
I'm a freshman getting ready for spring training and I want to know the best possible thing i can do to get better at my position as a WR (mainly speed and strength.. i have no problem catching the ball). I can work out up to 5 days a week for up to 3 hours each day. I don't mean to be picky but if you could label everything like.. Day 1: do this, this, and this. Day 2: do this, this, and this. ect.. till day 5. Basically i want the best thing i can do no matter how hard it will be.
Thanks in advance,
-Dominic
Thanks ;)
Answer
You didn't mention if this was high school or college....I personally feel that cardio & leg strength are the most important ares to work.
WRs have to be in excellent condition. You are running longer, faster, & more crisp routes than any other position, over, & over, & over...You are the starter, no one else gets your position. Trust me, I was drafted as a WR. When everyone else runs one suicide, you run two!!!!! When others are running sprints & bending over, you run an extra one, not for the team or your coach, but for yourself.
Proper weight-lifting is another requirement. Find a good strength coach in your area if there's not one on staff. This does not work properly unless you diet properly also. No carbonated drinks...PERIOD. High protein, no steroids. EVER!!!
Last, find a buddy equally as committed as you....Push each other. My buddy was the quarterback ( I wonder why) No excuses. No excuses. No excuses. I hope to see you in the pros. Be that one in 1000.
