Tight End in need of help
Question
Im a 15 yr. old HS Senior receiving type Tight end in the Bahamas. I may go to the US from college and i really wanna kill it over there. I know ill have to red-shirt in my first year most likely but i really wanna become a good player and eventually rip it in the NFL. Im 6'2.5", about 192 receiving type TE. I dont have ABSOLUTE #s like 40s n stuff but last summer i ran a 5.1, i know i have potential a few bahamians who are NFL told me i had some potential at camp last year and that was before my first season and training camp... id say i sun a mid-high 4.9. I just need some advice on:
1. What to do next year... HS in the states for a year or 2 or straight off to college
2. How to go about walking on at a college if i go next year
3. Any tips or resources that can help me to build 20+ lbs. by september
4. Any other insightful tips, info, advice
Answer
I don't know any 15 yr old seniors......I don't think you are going to go to college & beat out 18-19 yr. olds because of lack of football maturity. So I would suggest high school if possible. Also just for free, speed is not everything, heart is. I personally feel that cardio & leg strength are the most important areas to work considering your question.
Tight ends have to be in excellent condition. You are running shorter, faster, & more crisp routes than any other position, over, & over, & over...You are the starter, no one else gets your position. When everyone else runs one suicide, you run two!!!!! When others are running sprints & bending over, you run an extra one, not for the team or your coach, but for yourself.
Proper weight-lifting is another requirement. Find a good strength coach in your area if there's not one on staff. This does not work properly unless you diet properly also. No carbonated drinks...PERIOD. High protein, no steroids. EVER!!!
Last, find a buddy equally as committed as you....Push each other. My buddy was the quarterback ( I wonder why) No excuses. No excuses. No excuses. I hope to see you in the pros. Be that one in 1000.
Good luck...keep me informed.....
If this helped you, then leave a positive rating, if not please advise how I may assist you further.
