High School Football/Quaterback
Question
To whom may help me,
I am a junior in high school and I will be a senior next year. I have played high school football for one year and I played tight end and outside linebacker. This year coming up I am trying something new and trying to play quarterback. I have never played this position before but I am very eager to learn this position and to be a team leader. What kind of advice can you give to a first time senior-rookie aspiring quarterback on being the best that I can be and get my playing time and be known as someone great???

Make sure you study the play book, you have to be able to visualize the plays, formations and know your team's assignments. You have plenty of time to do that between now and Summer camp.
Next make sure you are in shape, not just strength and conditioning, but make sure your feet and arm is in shape. Make sure you can master your footwork (i.e. 3 step drop, 5 step drop, 7 step drop, roll out, etc.). you should practice your footwork and quickness every day. Make sure your arm is in condition to pass, practice passing to routes and for accuracy with 5-25 yard passes. Don't worry about the long passes. The next thing to do is to watch film. You need to ba able to identify defensive formation and read them. Ask your coach to give you some drills he wants you to work on and ask himfor some film to review during the off season. Meeting and discussing this with your coach will help you as a rookie and it will establish a report between you and the coach and that can help you.
