Becoming a PeeWee Football Coach

Question
I was just asked if I want to coach a pee wee football team at my county. Where can I go to learn how to coach and teach kids on playing the game. I want most importantly for these kids to have fun & be safe. I want to teach the parents the same. Where can I go to learn this, I know nothing of coaching a team let alone little kids & I really want to do this.

First of all congratulations.  You have obviouly made an impact on some people if they asked you to coach this team.  I am sure you will handle parents just fine.  As long as they know what your rules are up front, you should (should) have no problems.  Keep in mind that it is in the developmental stage of football, so even though winning is important, so is the kids learning and improving.  

I would research as much about football as you can.  Amazon.com has a tremendous amount of beginning coaching books at cheap prices.  In terms of schemes, ask a local football coach in person for some advice.  If you would like to get in more detail with me, feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can talk more about specifics.
