Position help: Tight End
Question
Hi, my name is Darryl Cook. I'm playing freshmen football. We are doing a Passing League to get us ready for the season. My team's offense is a flexbone i play 3 man (fullback) and tight end on offense.
I'm a 5'9 14year-old who weighs 138. My bench maxout is 165 and squat 257. I'm farely built. I'm in a three way position battle at tight end and have a regular postion at fullback. My 40yd dash is 5.61. i'm usually utilized when we need a pass, cause i believe that my coaches think I'm a recieving TE. I'd like to know what i could to impress my coaches at tight end?
then at fullback, i consider myself weak there, cause i'm small - my competition at 3 man weighs 180 and benches 205. i don't fumble either. on the offensive side i'm not seeing enough playing time to where i'm starting to be concerned if actually good enough.
But on defense i play strong safety, and when you play SS in a 46-Bear and 4-4, you line up with linebackers, i'm VERY aggresive there and i think that's why the coaches play me on D more than O.
But i'd like some tips and tricks, etc. to catch some attention from the coaches. I also have a preseason football game today, think you could help me out?????
Answer
It sounds like you are trying to be a pro at a young age....Relax.....Don't stress out. Bide your time, be rqaully aggressive on offense. Learn to be & act strong. Bide your time. You will gain as you need.....
Even Michael Jordon was cut from his high school team until he was a senior. Then look at what he accomplished....Set a goal & strive towards it.....Strength & knowledge will come one day & one play at a time.....
Good luck.
Thanks for the question....Andy
