Becoming a better center
Question
I'm am 5'6 192lbs and I've been playing center for two years in Jv. When i go to varsity I'll be competing against someone else who's bigger and has more experience. What can i do during the offseason to become a better center?
Answer
well gent, if your only 5'6 and 192, you must be a skilled center! My highscool team has a new center who's 5'6 140, but he's really quite bad.
anyhow, the best thing you can do is to put on weight. that means exercising alot, weight lifting in particular, its the best thing you can do to gain muscle weight and get stronger( best thing for football) and eat alot. now, when i say eat alot, that doesnt mean go ahead and down a thing of oreo's, a bag of chips, and 4l of coke. I mean eat alot of good foods, nutrient, vitamin rich foods. which by the way, doesnt mean you have to visit the health food store everyday. just dont eat alot of crap, and you should be good to go. also eat a lot of protein. that's what makes your muscles grow and repair.
Your size will be your biggest problem. your stature is small, but that also means you have a lower center of gravity compared to someone else, and in football, if your lower then your oppenent, your pretty much guranteed to win. but you'll still need to grow, and theres not much you can do to help that. So put on weight, train hard, work out, watch what the NFl or CFL centers do. learn from them.
I personally dont play center, I play OT, DE, DT, and FB, so I dont have alot of experience there. hope i helped a lil bit.
how to get my upper body stronger
