Question
hello my name is CJ and i am a high school sophomore i weight 150 an i want to get to 170 by next football season. this pst year i played cornerback and i plan on playing it next year. i want to get faster to help my position but i also want to gain weight. so i was wondering if there is any ways for me to run and get faster while i still gain weight?

Answer
well CJ, whenever you gain muscle, you gain weight. A.K.A... workout! as your muscles get stronger, more toned, and if your doing certain exercises, you'll get faster, you gain weight. just last summer i gained 30 pounds of muscle. The best way by far to get stronger is to use weights. go to a gym, or your own schools weight room. to increase speed, you can do many things:

1. run stairs. sprint up stairs 1 stair at a time, 2 at a time, or 3. 1 stair= acceleration. 2= running power. 3= deep power.

2. foot work drills and ladder drills.

3. plyometrics

4. 40-80m sprint. the shorter the sprint(40m, no less) focuses on acceleration and technique. these are very good. 60-80m, to keep gaining speed after you reach your acceleration peak.

5. suicides: for cariovascular and muscular endurance.
