footwork
Question
Hey, I am a freshman and want to get better for my team. I play defensive end and ofensive tackle. I bench 240, and squat 350 and hang clean 200. I weigh 185 and am 6' 1 " . All is great except my running and footwork. It is terrible and I look horrible. I just want to be faster and run better because every time I get a sack the bad look of my stride takes away from the moment. Is there any way to improve my footwork and speed outside of practice and stop getting laughed at? Thanks
Answer
Well, the result of however you run, is a sack. That is the bottom line. Now you can start using a training ladder, that will help with your footwork.
I have a young kid that I train right now. Both of his feet are turned in. Looks like he is about to trip whenever he runs. He is in the 8th grade, he runs a 4.6/40 yard dash. He averages three touchdowns a game. He also plays basketball and runs track.
Don't let those laughing at you, discourage you.
There was a defensive tackle named Randy White. His three point stance looked like he was squatting down. Everybody laughed at him. He played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and was always in the opposing team's backfield. Getting a sack or causing a fumble.
