Question
I'm the only female lineman at SWHS and I want to get
better than what I already am, but the coaches devote
their time at practice to makin sure the guys are better
than what they were before the season. I want to
prove to them that I can be as good as the guys but
when I ask them to help me with something they say
they can't but when ZFo asks they'll say that they'd ve
glad to help which he'd ask a few minutes later than
what I would. I really want to get better to prove to
them that I can handle the game.
Answer
Dear Viktory,
I am sorry to hear that you are between a rock and a hard place. That is an expression that us old guys use, that means that you are not in a good situation.

When you watch this video, notice how the guys that are hitting the sled up high have no control and are struggling to move it. You must hit your man low and than stand him up (push him in an upward motion) not straight back like some coaches teach you to do.
Watch the first guy number 74 and see how easy it is for him to move the sled. Now watch the second guy number 75 and how he is struggling to push the sled straight ahead.
What you want to do is make contact with the palms of your hands, stay down low, and stand him up by pushing in an upward motion to destroy his balance. And then you drive with your legs. Your power comes from your legs not your hands. No matter how strong he is the legs are always stronger than the arms so keep that in mind. You can take on a bigger and stronger guys. All you have to do is stay lower than him and drive with the legs.

In this video I like that the offensive lineman is low however, I want him to explode upward not straight back.

The center was a little too high at first when he started his block but he adjusted for it.
