Question
QUESTION: hi first off my name is michael and im 19 im going to be trying out for two of the local semi pro football teams. I'm 6ft tall and weigh between 235-245. Im pretty athletic and been around the game a while. I'm thinking of trying out for either OLB TE FB or QB (i have a good arm) if theres any other positions i should consider please let me know. Also the tryouts arent for a while so any help as to how to get ready for what positions you might think of, tips on reads for OLB's and maybe a dietery plan would be very helpful thanks!!
ANSWER: Hi Michael,
Pick one position and stick with it. You need to get into the weight room and do some lifting. Everything else will take care of its self.
Good luck,
Louis

QUESTION: ok im very seriously leaning towards OLB or TE as ive had succes as a TE before and as a pass rusher although i did that as a DE in a very small HS. one thing i would like to know is in a 4-3 what is an OLB expected to do. i know in a 3-4 a lot of it is pass rush but i dont know about like what your reads would be. like for the MLB in a 4-3 or a 3-4 they read the guards a lot what would an OLB read and whats the differences in the responsibilities in each scheme?
Answer
Hi Michael,
The Strong-Side, or Sam linebacker lines up on the strong side of the defense across from the tight end.
The (Sam) is usually relied upon to blitz, play the run, cover the tight end, or a back coming out of the backfield.
The Weak-Side, or (Will) linebacker will play on the weak side of the offense away from the tight end. He will blitz, look for screens, or draws.
