WR Speed and Agility Drills
Question
I play WR for high school and am in the 11th grade this year. My 40 time is a 4.9, 4.8 on a good day, and if I can get a little faster I have a good chance to make it at the next level. I have gotten a few drills from my strength coach to work on speed, but I would like to see if there are any other drills out here that may help more. If you know any this would help me greatly. Thanks.
Answer
Actually the best man for speed training that I know of is Duane Carlisle. He will make you faster, and I believe he guarantees it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it about more than just speed. You need to work on running precise routes at all times. Run your routes to perfection. Watch college football and see the backup quarterbacks playing receiver. They are the utility men. Although they do not possess the speed of most of their teammates lining up at receiver, they run great routes.
Do not forget working on getting off the line of scrimmage when there is press coverage. Work on your speed moves (jab steps, head moves...) and power moves (rip, swim...). Also do not neglect the other half of your job. Be a great blocker. A receiver who is a great blocker will get the scholarship over a receiver with equal talent and grades.
Best of luck to you in the future. Live life with no regrets. Make memories you can cherish every day.
