Answer
Hello Isidro,
Congratulations on completing your freshman year of football! It would be hard for me to teach you how to play football (wide receiver) with being there physically to guide you through the process. However, I will give you a few pointers and try to point you in the right direction. I would first suggest you trying to get in touch with some of the upper class men who play your position. Ask them to teach you some of the plays. I know over the summer some of them do non-mandatory workouts. Try your best to participate. Be willing to accept some of their advice. Playing wide receiver is not just about being fast and can catch, it is also about running great routes, understanding when a defense is in a zone, learning who to stop in the openings of the zone and run blocking!! As a former running back, I loved a WR that could block. Also, try to find some of the quarter backs who will be returning. It would be great for you to actually get some work with those guys. Some of the best advice I have ever heard came from one of the great wide receivers, he said, " I always get into my routes the same way. That way the defender doesn't know what I am running." ~Jerry Rice
Good luck and if I can be of further assistance, let me know.
