How are plastic balls made?

Injection Moulding

- Plastic ball manufacturing using injection molding involves several stages that work together to create a high-quality product:

- Tooling Design: The first step is designing and manufacturing a metal mold that will give shape to the plastic balls. The mold is composed of two main parts: a core and a cavity, with the core creating the internal cavity of the ball and the cavity shaping the external surface.

- Material Preparation: The raw plastic material, often in the form of pellets or granules, is carefully selected and prepared. The type of plastic used depends on the desired properties and characteristics of the final product, such as elasticity, hardness, and color.

- Injection Molding Machine: The plastic pellets are fed into an injection molding machine, where they are heated until molten. Once melted, the molten plastic is pressurized and injected into the mold's cavity through a sprue channel and runners.

- Molding: The pressurized molten plastic fills the cavity of the mold and takes on its shape. The mold is designed with cooling channels to rapidly cool the plastic and solidify it.

- Ejection: Once the plastic ball has cooled and solidified, the mold opens, and an ejection system pushes the finished ball out of the cavity.

- Trimming and Finishing: Excess plastic from the sprue and runners is trimmed off the ball, and the ball may undergo additional finishing processes such as polishing, surface treatment, or printing to enhance its appearance.

- Inspection: The final step is quality inspection, where each plastic ball is carefully checked for defects, dimensions, and overall quality to ensure it meets the desired standards.
