FINGER PITCHES FOR NO-THUMB DRILLING
Question
MR. AKI: REVERSE (AWAY FROM THE CENTER OF THE BALL) FINGER PITCHES SUPPOSEDLY ENHANCES A SMOOTH RELEASE WHEREAS FORWARD (TOWARD THE BALL CENTER) INCREASES THE POSSIBILITY OF 'PULLING' THE SHOT ... FORWARD PITCH MAY INCREASE ROTATION/REVERSE PITCH 'TONES DOWN' THE ROTATION FACTOR, OR SO I HJAVE BEEN TOLD AND HAVE READ. SHOULD ONE FINGER HAVE MORE PITCH THAN THE OTHER FINGER? IF THE ANSWER IS 'YES' WHICH WAY SHOULD IT BE? ALSO IF EXPERIMENTING WITH THE 'EASTER GRIP' WHAT PITCHES IN WHICH FINGER(s) WOULD YOU SUGGEST? HOW ABOUT IF A SHORTER SPAN MIDDLE FINGER AND AN EXTENDED FINGEER-TIP SPAN/GRIP ON THE RING FINGER? I REALIZE I'M ASKING MORE THAN A COUPLE QUESTIONS. JUST TRYING TO 'PICK YOUR BRAIN' OF ALL YOUR FNGER PITCH KNOWLEDGE/EXPERTISE/PHILOSOPHY. THANK YOU.
Answer
The shorter middle finger and longer ring finger will put a lot of strain on your hand and would not reccommend it.
The Easter grip is used by the highest rev players to give them a more controllable ball reaction.
You are correct with your first two statements concerning pitches. After that, the pitches are determined by each bowlers hand and flexibility.
