choosing a ball

Question
QUESTION: I am getting frustrated with my current balls.,black widow and storm dimension.Both seemed to have lost thier backend after 1 and 2 years respectively.I've even tried cookin them.Can u reccomend a new ball with alot of backend.details about me;;
very high backswing
alot of speed {17 mph range]
bowl twice a week(188 average]
have 1 300 in the and used to average 200 before I had a brain injury which left my right arm a little less than perfect.

I'm lookin for something that might last longer than 6 mo.s like the past 2 balls(great balls at first)

any ideas

thanx  will

ANSWER: Will,
You have good balls, just maybe need better maintenance. Cooking isn't recommended, so you may have trashed your bowling balls. Go to the manufacturer sites and there are suggested fixes for the problem you mentioned. Maybe get new ones, same balls??

I warmed my Dimension, helped get out oil, refreshed the surface and it performs great. The Virtual Gravity from Storm hooks about 4 boards more with a similar layout, the new Invasion about 4-5 more than the Virtual Gravity. I'd suggest the Roto Grip Cell or Mutant Cell, Brunswick's Siege, AMF's Mega Friction, Hammer's Jigsaw, Columbia's NoiZe or Resurgence, Track's Rising SE and MoRich's Craze. Can't speak to how long the balls will last, if maintained well I've never had the problem you describe.

Thanks for the questions. Good luck and good bowling.

QUESTION: what do you mean when u say warmed? what did u use for surface.Thanx for your help

Answer
Will,
Ebonite recommends hot water, Brunswick is OK with commercial oil extraction.

I stumbled upon a middle ground. I've noticed balls will bleed oil when left under the intense light from my stores halogen spotlights and when left near the space heater in the store, so the commercial oil out treatments seem like a good option without trying to melt the ball in an oven or split it open with heat lamps (I've witnessed grill marks and surface splits for some bowlers trying to take a short cut).

I extracted oil then freshened the surface with 1000 and 2000 Abralon pads. Shot 710 last Thursday. Dimension only lasted two games though then hooked too much. Switched to a Brunswick C System 2.5. Thanks for the follow-up.

I looked at a couple other options in new balls today (was at a manufacturers demo seminar). The Total Bedlam and Jigsaw Corner both are strong balls. Just got the new C System 3.5 in and it looks real good to. Good luck.
