backup ball
Question
My wife bowls with a backup ball with a very low track. She spins the ball. The track is around the bottom of the bowling ball(away from the finger and thumb holes). She needs a drilling layout that will allow her to swing the ball and still have continuation through the pins. Can you recommend a layout for her? Her current ball has the pin right of the finger holes and mass bias about 3 inches left of thumb hole. For her the ball goes long and turns on the backend but won't drive through the pins if she has to move right and swing it.
Answer
If possible, you need to find her PAP ( positive axis point). That will give more detail for a layout.
If she is right handed, the pin would usually be to the left of the finger holes for a bowler that throws a back-up ball. Just making that change may make all of the difference needed.
