Keeping the pins low?

Question
I see some hits that have the pins jumping and some that keep the pins low.
I was looking but couldn't find the reason why one or the other.
Is it revs or tilt or speed on a combination that keep the pins low?

Answer
Chuck,
I can't respond to you with a definite, researched answer, but in my experience, I'd suggest that a ball that has completed the skid, and hook phases of it's path to the pins and has transitioned to it's roll phase seems to keep pins low and the "proper" domino effect is achieved. While a ball still in the hook phase, with lots of rotational energy, seems to throw pins around more. While the later is fun to watch the former is more consistently effective.

Thanks for the question.
