bowling ball selection

Question
I have not bowled for about twenty years. Back then I was an avid bowler with about a 180 avg.( This was back in the days when the only balls I needed were a columbia yellow dot and my Johnny Petraglia lt-48. I throw a full roller and I am looking for a ball that will be versatile( like the yellow dot)in most conditions since Ill only be using it mostly for recreational bowling to begin with. My wife is also getting a ball but has virtually no experience bowling. She is about 5 ft3" and 115 lbs. What weight would best suit her, I was thinking a twelve pounder would do her well. Id like to spend no more than 150 or so for my ball, and lastly I heard that with a full roller, the drilling is much more important than the ball due to the necessity of keeping the track as centered as possible through the stamp. Is this true and if so whats my best bet for the drill settings?

Answer
For you, I would suggest a Storm Natural.  It would match the look you used to get when last you bowled.
I would expect the 12# would work for your wife.  To be sure, have her hold a 12# ball in the palm of her hand, elbow by her side.  If she can hold the ball for about 20 seconds or so, she will be able to use it.

As far as the full roller layout, the pin would be placed in the 8:00 oclock position.  The pin will be to the left of your thumb hole if you are a right hander.

Good luck,
Chip
