Any way to reduce shoulder strain?

Question
Hi
Im a 30 year old female right hand bowler who over the last year got a little more serious about bowling....
A few months ago i went from a low reacting 12 lb ball (lofting too much) to a 14lb storm ball.
When i first started bowling with this new  ball i was doing "ok" it took me a while to adjust to it.. after a month or so a got my first 200+ scores..  Now i am having some shoulder strain durring bowling and have lost my control over the ball.  i can just about make it to 120.
I know my mark, i just cant get to it! (i seem to be turning my sore right shoulder to the left and not lifting my arm enough on release, and sometimes hitting my leg)

Do you know of any hints or tricks i can use to minimise the pressure on my shoulder when i swing so i can finish up my few weeks of leagues?

maybe holding the ball higher and closer to my chest? lower and elbow to waist thumb up?

I know the safest thing would be to completly rest my shoulder and not bowl, but the pain isnt too intense (yet)  I'll save that as my lasat resort.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

P.S i do stretch before bowling ;)

Answer
If possible, try to get some video of yourself bowling.  It sounds like your pushaway iw going in front of your body.  This will make it swing away from your body in the backswing and then you have to use muscle to try and get it back inline.  This can cause a lot of strain on the shoulder.
If you hold it higher in your stance, and relax to let the ball swing, it will help elmininate the muscle use as well.
If you cant shoot some video, practice your armswing and pushaway in front of a mirror.  Make sure the pushaway is in line with your shoulde and does not go in front of your body.

Good luck,
Chip
