wrist braces
Question
when i bowl my wrist will become extremely sore, i herd of a brace called pro grip but i dont know who makes it and i dont understand how it works
Answer
Scott,
I don't know what is causing your wrist to be sore, so getting a wrist device may or may not cure the problem.
Because of the type of question you pose, I will assume that if you could do something to stop your wrist from hurting you'd do it. Usually, wrist issues begin with the fit of the ball. If you have a properly fit bowling ball, it hangs comfortably at your side when your hand and arm are relaxed. If you need to grip the ball, at any point, your fighting other things in addition to lane conditions and pins (to say nothing of other bowlers!).
A properly fit ball makes the game so much easier.
In addition, ball weight and your style can impact how you roll your ball. Without seeing you bowl, I can't be sure what the problem is. I will suggest that there are accessories made to alleviate discomfort, but I'd rather eliminate the root cause.
To get back to your question, Columbia made a line of accessories using the Pro Grip brand name, but the current glove is called the ProWrist, I believe. It is a wrist wrap and glove. The wrap uses neoprene and tension to stabilize and keep the wrist warm. But the glove isn't the kind of support you might need (depending). Other products have splint like components. I'd like it if you'd investigate, probably with your ball driller, if the strain you feel can be alleviated with a change in ball fit. If you are using house balls ALL BETS ARE OFF! They don't fit anybody! Better to get your own ball before a wrist device. Let me know how things work out.
Thanks for the question. Good luck and good bowling.
