Greetings AC! Honestly, I won't try to blow smoke at you. It's much like PBA bowler's getting sponsorship. You have to prove that you are worthy enough to be a contender. Basically, you have to accomplish a few things. Get noticed by news paper or media. Sponsors or potential employers come looking for you after that. Also, just as you are asking me about career opportunities, you have to keep pursuing your goal by telling others that you are interested in achieving that position in time. Try an opening at a high school for starters. I have been a very successful coach for football, basketball, and bowling! However, that was just the local level. It was all great experience. You can cultivate your skills with the different personalities and abilities or the athletes.

Most coaches are very good but lack the credentials for others to take a chance on them sometimes. Just like any job, you will get overlooked if you do not show continuous training or progress/success at your craft. Coach the juniors and youth program always! Then move to college or University Level. In time because of your natural affiliation with the USBC Coaching Staff you may land the job you want. People always want to know, "who trained you?" I am thankful for coach Rich Williams, Rod Ross, Bill Hall and Mr. Andy Clark(RIP)Tucson, Az.

In time rubbing elbows with the right folks and being considered as a genuine coach who can get the job done is paramount to selection in this business. For this business, your clients and your credentials represent you! Bottom out on one or the other and you get overlooked.

In summary: Fill the squares and attend as much training as you can. Train with other coaches if they will let you. Consider letting people know your intentions to be a successful coach and trust me, the great coaches will help you to get there. You can work the school systems, professional center services, or USBC positions as long as your career path stays productive.

I highly encourage you to buy my book which gives great tips on making adjustments. Please note that even I have coaching secrets I don't divulge unless they are paid for. But that is the reality of the business.  Technology and the social media is at your fingertips! Learn to use video for your students. Use it also, as a vehicle to become successful. You will learn many valuable things. Some things you learn will truly separate you from other coaches.  The most important aspect of being employable is: "having a rapport with your bowlers, and members of the bowling community." They both go hand and hand. Best of luck to you AC. Join me on facebook, Maybe we will work together someday. Be well, bowl well!
