bowling ball for a 3yr old

Question
We want to take our 3yr old son bowling for the first time.
He's 41 inches tall, weighs 34lbs and is left handed. What kind of bowl would you recommend, the appropriate weight and the drilling should we hold off on it for now?
Thank You!!!

Hello Ms. Kaitlyn, Putting myself in your position, I can see where there would be some intrigue about getting the little one his first bowling ball. It's a precious age, and I am a father of all boys.
My advice is always follow your heart if you think he is mature enough to handle it. Most centers have bumpers to assist with keeping the ball on the lanes for scoring.
As far as getting a bowling ball, check with the bowling center pro shop. They may be able to order you a six pound ball. I believe this is the lightest weight on the market.
At first you may want to start him out with the two hands between the legs delivery, unless you have already been working with him. This delivery is very cool for speed. That way the guy from the desk doesn't have to call someone down to retrieve the ball if it doesn't make it all the way down lane.
Ms. Kaitlyn, my sincere thoughts are that you don't have to hold off, but it also depends on the psyche of the child. If they can handle some disappointments and won't get frustrated, then we're good, go for it! At that age they are just trying to knock down basically anything. Especially, if he really likes bowling.
In closing, my best advice is to go to your bowling center and bowl a game with him using a six pound ball from the bowling center. The six pound balls are generally kept at the desk. Just see how he does and go from there. If you feel confident about the overall experience for you and him, then go see our pro shop professional staff at your local center. They will take care of you.
Be sure to get plenty of videos of him bowling! One day you can play it back for him and the family! It won't be embarrassing at all when he is a PBA bowler one day! Nahhhh, not embarrassing at all...
:-)
Be well, bowl well family!
