Crossing arm over on release.
Question
I am female 61 who has been bowling over 30 years. I have a conventional grip and throw a straight ball. The last two years I have been crossing my arm over to the left side of the lane and missing the pocket. I have carried 170 average and now am down to 150 because of this. I have tried everything and nothing works. Any Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.
Answer
Linda,
Sounds like you're wrapping the ball around your body. Try to hold the ball in front of your shoulder with the elbow tucked back under the shoulder. When your moving into the approach, step with the ball side foot slightly in front of the other foot (to help the ball clear your hip). Should allow for a straighter swing and get you back under control.
Let me know how this works. Thanks for the question. bowl well.
