2 finger bowling
Question
If you use 2 fingers, no thumb, must your palm cover the thumb hole, or should the bowl only have 2 holes, ( no thumb hole )this is an on going problem. do I call a foul on my fellow bowlers or not. my friend puts his fingers in the bowl then rotates the ball so the thumb hole is on the side of his palm ( exposed ) is the legal
Answer
Cliff,
By strict rule the thumb is a gripping hole if covered, weight hole if not covered. A second weight hole would make the ball illegal (or shot illegal) if thumb hole isn't covered. Check your local association, some have different levels of adherence, where local rules supersede the national rules.
The whole issue of static weights is being reviewed and I believe some of the rules will be modified or eliminated at some point in the future. Thanks for the question.
