Question
Is it illegal to use a ball in competition play, league or tournaments, with the pin drilled out? Could this drilled out bowling ball be disqualified with the pin out...???

Thank you

Hi Cindy, Drilling the pin out is legal. Just as long as the bowling ball does not violate the 1 ounce rule for top, bottom, and side weights. The pin is there to show where the top of the center of the core is located. I notice that some players do have the ring finger drilled out. Sometimes, the pin may be located there when you don't see it on any other aspect of the bowling ball. Again the pin, is to locate the top of the core. Bowlers may fill this ring finger hole with a white, yellow or other color plug material to be a reference point for future drillings. Bowl well and remember to check out the World Series of Bowling currently being held at South Point Casino, Las Vegas, NV.
